Temperature sensor (NTC) error.
The F3 E2 error indicates that the washer’s temperature sensor, also known as the NTC thermistor, is reading values outside the expected range. Whirlpool front‑load washers use this sensor to monitor incoming water temperature and regulate heating cycles. If the sensor is open, shorted, or disconnected, the washer cannot safely control temperature and halts the cycle. This error is common when the sensor wiring becomes loose or when mineral buildup affects the sensor’s accuracy.
