The F72 error indicates that the washer’s basket did not re-engage properly after shifting between wash and spin modes. Whirlpool Cabrio and HE washers use a shift actuator to move the drive system between agitate and spin positions. If the actuator cannot fully re-engage the basket, or if the basket is obstructed, the washer triggers F72. This error is common when the shift actuator fails, the drive hub is worn, or the basket is binding.
